The
Vega Study Center Purpose
America's
Premier Macrobiotic Residential School Since 1974
Founded
by Herman and Cornellia Aihara

Under the auspices
of the Vega Institute, Inc., a non-profit, tax-exempt corporation,
The Vega Study Center has been serving students longer than
any other macrobiotic residential school in the world. Its
international reputation as the friendly, family-style macrobiotic
center has grown out of the affectionate and generous spirit
of Herman and Cornellia Aihara who resides at Vega, sharing
her special approach to macrobiotics with the students who
come to learn from her.
Continuing to fulfill
their promise to George Ohsawa of developing Vega as a profound
social force, the Aiharas have done so. Some new-generation
macrobiotics are actively working to take the Aiharas' well-rooted
Vega traditions into the next century, while nourishing and
further cultivating these traditions with their own macrobiotic
vision for a healthy and happy society. The Aiharas and other
macrobiotics have blended their Eastern and Western upbringing
and their traditional and progressive views, creating a happy
quartet of contemporary, creative vitality and elder macrobiotic
wisdom that makes Vega unique among the world's macrobiotic
schools.
